I got to go here by winning a photo contest back in 2007 with a photograph that ABC News called one of the best of the year (Fractures in a Frozen Lake #2, Mongolia). Antarctica was out of my price range. I can do free, though, and that's what it was. And it was wholly and undisputedly fantastic. Many photos from this trip are missing. The magazine that sponsored the contest (Conde Nast Traveler) lent me a digital camera for the trip and I shot lots of stuff, and these images were put onto CDs. I cannot locate these CDs unfortunately. (I know, can you believe it?) But I shot film too, and just a bit of it is below. Hopefully this gallery will be expanded at some point.
