Holy Wednesday in Zamora, Spain.

Every year, over 2000 members of the 
'Brotherhood of the Injured Christ'
gather at the Cathedral and take a vow of silence before 
making a procession through the streets.

In 2014, this event also coincided with one of the biggest soccer games of the year between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

While the Brotherhood carried candles and silently marched through the old cobble-stoned streets of town (some checking their mobiles for scores), the homes they passed were anything but quiet. 
Televisions. Cries of joy. Howls of disbelief.
A thousand and one "tsssts!" from the same number of
just-opened beers.

It was an odd juxtaposition, but interesting to witness nonetheless. I have a whole series of photos from this night that will eventually be on this site.
